We are also seeking sponsors for our show bags and our World Record attempts. Could this be you? Or someone you know? If so, please contact Claire Major.

Or perhaps you’re interested in becoming a Guinness World record holder? If so, please register your interest at the Front Office or speak with your coach.

The Gala Day committee would like to wish all the families at Woden Valley Gymnastics Club a happy and safe holiday season. Stay posted more information coming in the New Year!

Official Opening of our New Building

So the time has finally come to celebrate our fabulous new extension. After years of dreaming, then months waiting, our extension is finally complete!  The Gala Day will be the official opening of our new extension. It will be a summer fair with be free show bags, rides, demonstrations, performances on centre stage, a tumbling challenge and we are planning Guinness World Record attempts.

On the day we will also have strength challenges, appearances from local elite sporting identities and demonstrations from our own talented gymnasts.

We have support from “Knuckles” from FM104.7 and an official opening ceremony with the Chief Minister.

This is a family fun day with free training programs for children to try gymnastics and a number of stalls including a BBQ, merchandise, face painting, beer tent and a free show bag for every child.

The Extention

The inside of the building will be finished (painted, the lot) by Friday this week!

The scaffolding will be removed from the pit on Monday.

There is some minor landscaping to be done outside, some concrete to be poured and the steps to be put in place.  This is all expected to be finished by Friday next week, 3rd December.

THEN THE BUILDING IS OURS!

Please remember that we are going to start setting it up on Monday 6th December, so if you have any spare time during the week I would love to see you.  If any senior gymnasts who are prepared to WORK and have finished school or can get time off then I would welcome them also.

Gala Opening of Our Extended Gym‏

WE NEED YOU!

As you know the extension is almost near completion and the club has decided to make the most of the big event and combine the opening ceremony with a GALA DAY for promotion of the club and gymnastics.

Children/Members will be given the opportunity to show family, friends and potential new members how gymnastics is fun for all ages and skill level.

In order to conduct an activity of this size, we need the support of the entire club for the planning and preparation, as well as help on the day with running activities.

Please help support your club, all ideas, interest and offers of assistance of any size are welcome.

Our first meeting is on Tuesday 26 October at 6.30pm and is to bring everyone’s ideas and concepts together to make this another successful event.

Obstacle Course

On Friday 8 October a group of senior boys went over the ADFA Over Water Obstacle Course.  The course is designed as a confidence builder and, surprising the Physical Training Instructor, 10 of the 11 boys completed the course and a number went back a second time.

Thank you to ADFA and their staff for allowing us to use the course.
